2) Course
Description:
Narrated online video presentation of California QME procedures and California
DWC QME regulations. This module consists of three (3) Sections. Each Section
includes a 30 minute video presentation, 60 minutes of reading assignments and a
30 minute quiz.
3) Educational
Objective: To
refresh participant’s knowledge of current California QME procedures and
California DWC QME regulations. To disseminate new or updated QME procedures and
regulations.
4) Teaching
Methods:
Online narrated video presentation. Selected reading assignments. Online Quiz of
information presented.

Section 1: QME Selection Process
- Represented vs. Unrepresented Applicants
- Panel QME, AME, Agreed Panel QME
- The Role of the QME
- Medical legal vs Clinical role
- Medical legal disputes
- Medical legal opinion, reasoning, internal consistency
Section 2: QME Scheduling, Forms, Paperwork and Medical Records.
Section 3: Conduct of the QME during
the evaluation.
6) Reading
Assignments:
Selected sections of the 2001 California DWC Medical Unit Physicians Guide.
Selected sections of the California DWC QME Regulations.
Selected sections of the California Labor Code.
Selected sections of the AMA Guides for the Evaluation of Physical Impairment (5th
Ed)
